It has been two months after Z-Day, the zombie apocalypse that wiped out the most advanced civilization the earth has ever seen. What began as mad cow disease, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy as the doctors called it, eventually infected humans, becoming mad person disease. A little later, it became mad zombie disease.
One of the few survivors, a college student nicknamed Columbus was making his way to Columbus, Ohio to check on his parents. Along the way, however, he had an accident and lost his car. He met Tallahassee, who was risking his neck looking for his favorite Twinkies, and the two teamed up together.
Walking into a grocery, still looking for Twinkies, they met the sisters Wichita and Little Rock. The sisters, perhaps not trusting Columbus and Tallahassee, stole their vehicle and weapons and disappeared. The men managed to find another truck that happened to be loaded with weapons.
They meet the girls again, and while the latter attempted to make a repeat of the vehicle and weapon theft, Columbus succeeded in convincing them to travel as a team. They decided to go to Pacific Playland in Los Angeles because they heard rumors that it was zombie-free.
Passing through Hollywood they stop at Bill Murray’s mansion where Tallahassee and Wichita find him disguised as a zombie. He said he needed the disguise so he could walk and play golf freely without being bothered by the real zombies. When Columbus and Little Rock joined the three, Bill attempted to play a practical joke by scaring them. Thinking Bill to be a real zombie, Columbus shot and killed him.
Meanwhile, the time Wichita spent with Columbus was making her fall for him. Not wanting any attachment in a mad world, however, she left with Little Rock for Pacific Playland, which, contrary to rumors, was crawling with the undead.
Columbus, who has himself developed feelings for Wichita, followed the sisters forcing Tallahassee to go with him. They arrived at the park in time to rescue Wichita and Little Rock who were by then running out of ammunition.
They conquered the zombies, Columbus and Wichita declared their love for each other, and Tallahassee had his Twinkies.
